About Sarah

Sarah Everett is the award-winning author of novels for young readers and teens, including The Probability of Everything, The Shape of Lost Things, and The Romance Rewind. Her books have been translated into many languages and are read by young people around the world.

Born in West Africa, Sarah grew up the way many writers do: half in the real world and half somewhere else entirely. She remembers childhoods spent in enchanted forests, on desert islands, and inside a certain magical wardrobe, and she has been writing her own stories since she was a child. Today she lives and writes in western Canada.

Sarah began her career writing young adult fiction. Her debut, Everyone We’ve Been, was followed by No One Here Is Lonely, Some Other Now, and How to Live Without You, stories about memory, grief, first love, and the surprisingly messy work of becoming yourself. In 2023 she published her first middle grade novel, The Probability of Everything, which earned starred reviews and national recognition, and became one of the most talked-about middle grade books of the year. She returned to middle grade with The Shape of Lost Things in 2024, and her newest novel for young readers arrives in September 2026.

Whether she’s writing for teens or younger readers, Sarah’s books share a common heart: characters navigating loss and change, and finding—sometimes against the odds—reasons to hope.

When she is not reading or writing, Sarah can be found going on long, meandering walks, learning a new language, perfecting her tree pose, dreaming about summer, or planning her next travel adventure.
